We set out to answer the following questions, because we have heard a lot of rumors.

Questions:

  1. When was it built?
  2. What was the pool used for?
  3. Why don’t we use it any more ?
  4.  When can we use it again?

Why we started looking into the pool was because we never had answers to explain the rumors. Why was the pool built? Why don’t we use it anymore? The truth might shock you! We found out that the pool was built 90 years ago, after the school was built. Here are some images of the pool room that we got:

        Pictures of Skinner’s Pool

We gathered information from Andrew Delgado, one of the janitors here at Skinner. Here is the information that we gathered in our interview.

                                        Information:

Jacob: How long has this pool been here?

Mr. Delgado: It has been here for a long time, over 90 years.

Dekker: Why did we stop using the pool?

Mr. Delgado: Well…we stopped using the pool a long time ago because we couldn’t heat it up. They are too cold to swim in.

Jacob: Who would use the pool when it was open?

Mr. Delgado: Well, it was used by the gym teacher and for after school activities. The school used to be a type of  recreation center for the public. It was also used for school barbecues.

Dekker: When do you think we can use the pool again?

Mr. Delgado: Right now we are trying to work on the heating. If we manage to get the heating on for the pool, then we will probably re-open it.

In summary, the pool is not much of a mystery. It’s all very simple, the pool is just closed because it is too cold to swim in and can not be heated at the moment.
