Spread of Bacteria Closes Skinner Pools…

Have you ever wondered why the pools here at Skinner are not in use anymore? Well, one reason could be that the city tested all the DPS schools’ pool water, and when Skinner was tested, they found a few dangerous substances mixed in with the water they used. One substance they found was Helicobacter Pylori which is a bacteria that affects the stomach at an early age. This could have caused the pool to close, but it didn’t.

Another possible reason for the pool to close is that a few students in the late 30’s claimed that they saw a ghost in the shape of a student pacing around the bottom of the pool. The students immediately got out and reported it, and ever since, the pools have been out of service. But that was also not the reason that Skinners’ pools are unused.

The real reason both pools closed were in 1156, a girls’ gym class went to the pool to learn how to swim. The pools just got permission to run, so everyone was new to it. Even the teachers. Now, the girls’ gym teacher, Eleanor Carlton, at the time did know how to swim, but she did not know how exactly to teach it. Near the beginning of her lesson, the girls got in the water. Eleanor thought it was a good idea to see the levels of all her students before she started. Of course, there was at least one person who didn’t know how to swim. (In fact, there were 6 in this class of 30.)

Eleanor soon realized that “[To] learn their levels was not my best choice as a gym teacher.” By investigation, they learned that a student named Carolyn Ellis was drowned, or had drowned. She was discovered after drowning, and could not be saved. Her parents bought the school, and turned it into a place where children, also known as students, were forced to sit in sad, gray classrooms and get lectured. In Carolyn Ellis’s parents’ minds, this was safe. Nobody was allowed to leave the classroom except to go to the restroom. The pool was not maintained, and was soon forgotten. Not much has changed since then, and the pool is still closed.

This could be the reason Skinner’s pools are closed, but, maybe, this could all be a lie. Nobody knows. It’s up to you to decide whether this is true or not.
